^Lot 631 Antique American Ring-Trigger Pepperbox

Antique American Double Action Ring-Trigger Revolving Percussion Pepperbox, unmarked but by Blunt & Syms of New York, NVSN, .31 cal., 3.75'' ribbed 6-shot round barrel group marked only with a ''(star)'' on front face, has exposed nipples at rear; frame is lightly floral-engraved, has top recoil shield, central underhammer/ring trigger, integral bag-style gripstraps, two-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1830s-50s, originally with full-blued finish. Condition is very good retaining no original finish but an overall cleaned gunmetal gray. Grips are smooth and sound and show a later thin varnish coat. Edges are soft on barrel group, better elsewhere; engraving is clear but not sharp; action works as designed, onepple is missing; smoothbores are clean showing overall frosting and occasional light erosion.
